Junior Accountant

We have partnered with a K-12 educational facility in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area to provide them with a Junior Accountant. Please review the below description and let us know if you are interested. Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Junior Accountant:

• 1. Must have bookkeeping or other relevant accounting experience.
• 2. Must have proficiency in accounting software.
• 3. No more than three jobs in the last ten years

Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements the following: Perform bank reconciliations Prepare and post required journal entries Prepare summary of significant events and budget variances Prepare supporting documentation for financial statements including balance sheet schedules and other reconciliations Work closely with independent auditors during annual financial statement audit with preparing schedules and invoices, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data. Posting of accounts to the General Ledger for: Accounts Receivable Cash Receipts Accounts Payable Cash Disbursements Payroll Maintain records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material; update records as necessary. Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, schools, and others in a courteous and professional manner. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Provide support such as schedules, data, information, etc. for the annual budget process. May perform other duties as assigned. Requirements of the Junior Accountant: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field. 1-3 years bookkeeping or other relevant accounting experience Computer Basics -- MS Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); proficiency in accounting software. Good knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements for K-12 schools and charter school law. Other Key Requirements for the Junior Accountant: 100% in office Travel within or outside of state. No sponsorships or visa holders. No Corp-to-Corp.
