Its employees consistently rank Moss as one of the best places to work.POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACTThe Staff Accountant I is responsible for performing general ledger reconciliations for Moss, as well as preparing and entering Energy Division journal entries. This role collaborates across teams to ensure financial integrity and support financial reporting efforts in a fast-paced, innovative environment.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform general ledger account reconciliations for designated accounts and related divisionsCollaborate with functional leads across the division to ensure the completeness and accuracy of transactionsReconcile vendor statements and communicate with vendors to resolve discrepanciesManage the preparation of journal entriesSupport monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities in accordance with the company’s financial close calendarAnalyze balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy, identify trends, and provide variance insightsProcess invoices accurately and timelyDraft and maintain technical accounting memos to document financial treatments, account reconciliations, and compliance with company policiesDevelop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline accounting workflows and ensure departmental consistencyReview credit card transactions and ensure proper coding consistent with company policyManage and reconcile deposits, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts receivable, accruals, and reserves to ensure accurate financial reporting and complianceRespond to internal inquiries, conduct accounting research, participate in special projects, and provide ad hoc financial analysisPerform other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, and/or 3+ years of experience in an accounting or administrative support setting (construction industry experience preferred)Strong understanding of accounting standards, general ledger, and month-end closeAbility to communicate complex reconciliation findings clearly to functional leads and senior staffAbility to build strong working relationships with functional leads to ensure transaction completenessAbility to manage competing priorities during the month-end close in a high-volume environmentAnalytical and accurate in performing short reviews of workpapers and reconciliationsDemonstrates an execution mindset; provides peer-level guidance while incorporating senior feedbackAbility to work collaboratively to resolve transactional discrepancies across different departmentsConstruction industry experience is a plus, but not requiredJOB TITLE: STAFF ACCOUNTANT IJOB LOCATION: FORT LAUDERDALE, FLCLASSIFICATION: FULL TIME - EXEMPT - SALARIEDREPORTS TO: LEAD, SENIOR ACCOUNTANTMoss is an equal opportunity employer.
