Janitorial Worker

The Janitorial Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment across office and warehouse facilities. This role supports employee health, safety, and productivity through routine cleaning, sanitation, and facility upkeep, while working both independently and as part of a supportive facilities team.

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, meeting rooms, break areas, restrooms, warehouses, and common spaces to maintain a consistently professional appearance.
• Perform routine janitorial tasks including mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash and recycling removal, and general floor cleaning.
• Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized workspaces in all assigned areas, including office, warehouse, and common areas.
• Monitor and restock cleaning and cafeteria supplies to ensure adequate inventory is available at all times.
• Assist with exterior property maintenance, including keeping entryways, walkways, and surrounding areas clean and presentable.
• Support recycling efforts by properly sorting and disposing of recyclable materials in accordance with facility guidelines.
• Assist with facility-related projects and special cleaning assignments as needed by the operations or facilities team.
• Follow established safety procedures and protocols when handling cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment.
• Use material handling tools such as pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely when required for cleaning or organizing tasks.
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization in warehouse areas involved in picking, packing, shipping, receiving, loading, and unloading.
• Organize and maintain storage areas for cleaning tools, supplies, and equipment to support efficient operations.
• Identify areas requiring additional cleaning or attention and address them promptly to uphold high cleanliness standards.
• Adhere to daily cleaning schedules and checklists, ensuring all assigned tasks are completed within designated timeframes.
• Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or facility concerns to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when working in office areas and around sensitive information.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 6 months of janitorial or cleaning experience preferred, ideally in a commercial or industrial environment.
• Experience with commercial cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom sanitation.
• Ability to maintain clean, sanitary, and organized workspaces in offices, restrooms, breakrooms, warehouses, and common areas.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage daily cleaning schedules effectively.
• High attention to detail to identify and address areas requiring additional cleaning or safety measures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative to identify and complete tasks.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain cleaning supplies, cafeteria inventory, and orderly work environments.
• Reliability and dependability, including consistent attendance, punctuality, and follow-through on assigned responsibilities.
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety procedures when handling cleaning products and equipment.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities in a dynamic office and warehouse environment.
• Strong work ethic and self-motivation to maintain high standards of cleanliness and professionalism.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working in office settings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in commercial cleaning environments is preferred.
• Background in warehouse-related tasks such as picking, packing, labeling, and material handling is an asset.
• Familiarity with warehouse inventory processes, inventory control, and order picking is beneficial.
• Experience with shipping and receiving operations, including loading and unloading, is advantageous.
• Ability to safely use material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and, where applicable, forklifts.
• Awareness of production and warehouse workflows to support cleaning around active operations.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with facilities and warehouse teams as needed.
• Comfort working in non-temperature-controlled environments, including warehouse and industrial areas.

Work Environment

This role is based in a combined office and warehouse setting, including restrooms, breakrooms, common areas, and industrial spaces. The environment is non–temperature controlled, particularly in warehouse areas, which may be warmer or cooler depending on the season. You will work around active warehouse operations such as picking, packing, shipping, receiving, loading, and unloading, and may use equipment such as pallet jacks and other material handling tools as needed for cleaning and organizing tasks. The culture emphasizes friendly management, a supportive facilities team, and clear expectations for safety, cleanliness, and professionalism. Work involves being on your feet for most of the shift, moving throughout the facility, and performing physically active tasks in a fast-paced but collaborative environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Tonawanda, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
