This Wound Care Registered Nurse position is a full-time role that includes comprehensive benefits and a convenient daytime schedule.

Our organization is a regional healthcare system dedicated to delivering high-quality care to the residents of the greater Truckee Meadows area. We operate multiple facilities across the region, including rural communities. Our flagship provider is a 124-bed acute care hospital located in Sparks. Additionally, a new hospital, currently under construction, is set to open in 2022, marking the first full-service hospital built in the area in over a century.

We also offer primary care and a variety of specialty services through our medical group, with locations in Reno, Sparks, Fallon, and Bishop to better serve the community.

Furthermore, patients can access a range of outpatient surgical services at our dedicated surgical and pain management center.

Job Summary: This role involves coordinating treatment plans to ensure thorough wound assessments and care strategies, including setting goals, implementing treatments, and evaluating patient outcomes across the organization. The position also entails educating patients, families, and staff on wound management, pressure ulcer prevention, support surfaces, dressing options, and other therapies. The nurse serves as a resource for physicians, the wound care team, and clinical staff, while also being capable of performing general nursing tasks in various departments under appropriate supervision. Participation in the organization’s performance improvement initiatives is also expected.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Conduct wound assessments, reassessments, and management for all patients in accordance with established policies, including neonates, pediatrics, geriatrics, and the general population.
• Possess knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and disorders related to the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and dermal systems.
• Apply current wound management theories when caring for patients with both acute and chronic wounds.
• Create skin care programs aimed at preventing skin breakdown in patients.

Graduate from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
At least two (2) years of experience in medical/surgical or rehabilitation nursing.
Certification as a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) is preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
