As part of our Transportation team, you'll support major alternative delivery transportation programs that improve mobility, strengthen communities, and create lasting value for our clients.As aDesign Manager, you'll play a critical role in guiding the technical development and integration of large-scale transportation projects. You'll lead multidisciplinary design reviews, coordinate across engineering disciplines, identify and address technical risks, and help ensure projects advance efficiently from development through implementation readiness. Your leadership and engineering expertise will help drive high-quality, constructible solutions that support successful project outcomes.What you'll doLead technical reviews of major design submittals, including preliminary designs, engineering studies, technical reports, and supporting analysesServe as the primary technical lead for multidisciplinary design integration across complex transportation projectsEvaluate designs for technical quality, constructability, coordination, and alignment with project requirementsIdentify and help resolve cross-discipline conflicts, design inconsistencies, constructability concerns, and technical risksEstablish and maintain consistent technical direction across multidisciplinary review teamsSupport the implementation and continuous improvement of technical review and evaluation processesDetermine appropriate review disciplines and review levels for incoming design submittalsCoordinate with discipline leads and project leadership to facilitate timely and comprehensive technical reviewsAssess project constraints, impacts, and risks across multiple engineering disciplinesSupport the development of mitigation strategies for identified technical risksProvide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teamsManage the scope and responsibilities of multiple subconsultantsCollaborate with client representatives, project partners, and program leadership to address complex technical issuesSupport successful project delivery through effective engineering review, design integration, and technical coordination Here's what you'll need Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related fieldProfessional Engineer (PE) license required10+ years of experience in transportation design, design management, or technical leadershipExperience on large infrastructure projects, including Design-Build, P3, alternative delivery, or major transportation programsDemonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teamsStrong understanding of transportation project development and design integrationAbility to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholdersIdeally, you'll also haveExperience on P3, Design-Build, or other progressive delivery projectsExperience serving as a Design Manager, Technical Manager, Design Integration Lead, or Lead Discipline CoordinatorExperience performing constructability reviews and supporting phased implementation strategiesExperience supporting Owner's Representative, Independent Engineering, Program Management, or Technical Advisor assignmentsExperience evaluating environmental, utility, right-of-way, and operational impacts on major transportation projectsDBIA, PMP, or related professional certificationDemonstrated ability to apply systems thinking and evaluate projects at a corridor, program, or network levelStrong technical judgment and cross-discipline coordination experienceExperience identifying and addressing technical risks early in project developmentStrong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to build alignment across technical disciplines while exercising independent engineering judgmentExperience working in fast-paced alternative delivery environmentsProven leadership and mentoring capabilitiesOur health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
