Z. Wilson Talent Solutions is partnering with a growing national acute care healthcare organization to recruit a Vice President of Managed Care to lead enterprise payer strategy, contracting, reimbursement optimization, and value-based care initiatives in Nashville, TN. This executive will work closely with senior leaders across operations, finance, revenue cycle, clinical services, and business development to strengthen payer partnerships, improve financial performance, and support continued growth.

Note: This position will work in the Nashville, TN office 5 days per week. Candidates must live in the Nashville, TN area or are willing to move to Nashville, TN.

What You Will Lead:

Managed Care Strategy and Payer Partnerships

• Shape and execute an enterprise managed care strategy aligned with the organization’s growth, operational, and financial priorities.
• Build trusted, executive-level relationships with commercial, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and government payers.
• Advise senior leadership on reimbursement trends, payer dynamics, market changes, and emerging payment models.
• Evaluate value-based care opportunities and other innovative reimbursement approaches relevant to acute healthcare.

Contracting, Networks, and Reimbursement

• Direct payer negotiations, renewals, amendments, and network participation strategies across multiple markets and levels of care.
• Assess contract economics and reimbursement methodologies to improve rate adequacy, payer profitability, and overall performance.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen payer mix, expand network access, and improve reimbursement across service lines.
• Establish disciplined processes for tracking contract obligations, payer performance, and renewal timelines.

Revenue Cycle and Financial Performance

• Partner with finance, revenue cycle, and operations leaders to improve net collections, reimbursement accuracy, and cash flow.
• Use denial, authorization, underpayment, and collection data to uncover root causes and prioritize corrective action.
• Address operational and contractual gaps that create revenue leakage or limit reimbursement performance.
• Support broader revenue integrity, margin improvement, and financial sustainability initiatives

Analytics and Market Intelligence

• Develop executive reporting and dashboards that translate payer and contract performance into clear, actionable insights.
• Use analytics to identify revenue opportunities, evaluate contract effectiveness, and inform enterprise decisions.
• Monitor regulatory, legislative, competitive, and reimbursement developments affecting acute healthcare.
• Lead benchmarking efforts and present recommendations to executive leadership.

Growth and Organizational Leadership

• Provide managed care expertise for acquisitions, divestitures, new-market entry, service-line expansion, and strategic partnerships.
• Align payer requirements with clinical, compliance, financial, and operational priorities.
• Build, develop, and lead a high-performing managed care team grounded in accountability, collaboration, and measurable results.
• Advance patient access and long-term organizational performance through strong cross-functional partnership.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, or a related field; an advanced degree such as an MBA, MHA, or MPH is preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in managed care, payer contracting, reimbursement strategy, healthcare finance, or a closely related area within a multi-site healthcare organization.
• A strong record of negotiating commercial and government payer agreements and improving reimbursement and financial outcomes.
• Healthcare provider experience is required; payer-side, and value-based reimbursement experience are highly valued.
• Experience leading enterprise initiatives and influencing executive stakeholders across multiple functions and markets.
