School-Based Physical Therapist - Destrehan, LA

Job Description

Degree in Physical Therapy, active Physical Therapist license and 1+ year of Physical Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Step into a rewarding opportunity as a school-based Physical Therapist supporting students across all grade levels near Destrehan, LA. This onsite, contract position begins August 3, 2026, and continues through June 4, 2027, with consistent Monday through Friday hours from 8AM-4PM (37.5 hours per week). You’ll serve an itinerant caseload of approximately 35 students, making a daily impact through collaborative assessments and tailored interventions.

Desired Qualifications:

Current and active Physical Therapist (PT) State License
Previous experience in a school setting or a strong desire to work with pediatric and adolescent populations
Strong communication and organization skills to manage itinerant scheduling and consult with school staff, students, and families
Comfortable supporting a diverse caseload across multiple campuses and grade levels
Ability to adapt and adjust therapeutic approaches based on student needs

Responsibilities:

Provide direct physical therapy interventions and assessments for students as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Partner closely with special education teams, classroom staff, and families in the educational environment
Travel between school sites as needed to deliver therapy services to assigned students
Maintain thorough documentation of student progress, daily activities, and compliance with state/federal regulations
Contribute to student IEP meetings, team planning, and ongoing training for staff on movement, mobility, and accessibility best practices
