With its dynamic mix of art, culture, food, fashion, and nightlife, Dream Downtown places guests at the center of one of NewYork City’s most vibrant neighborhoods Summary The Assistant Director of Sales (ADOS) is a senior‑level sales leadership position reporting directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM). This role is designed for an experienced hospitality sales professional who is ready to expand their leadership capabilities and prepare for future advancement into a Director of Sales & Marketing role within a lifestyle hotel environment. The ADOS is a key member of the hotel's commercial leadership team, balancing active selling and direct revenue production with the day‑to‑day leadership, development, and administrative oversight of the Sales department. The role requires a highly visible, full‑time onsite presence to coach and support the sales team, strengthen internal and external partnerships, and drive revenue through strategic account management, business development, and market expansion. A primary responsibility of this position is to carry, personally own, and achieve a MajorMarket group sales quota. The ADOS is expected to develop and convert Major Market group business, manage the related sales pipeline, and deliver measurable production against assigned group revenue goals while supporting the broader hotel commercial strategy. Success in this role requires strong business acumen, disciplined sales execution, and the ability to foster trusted relationships across the hotel and in the marketplace. The ADOS serves as a bridge between commercial strategy and operational execution, ensuring alignment across teams and delivering exceptional client and guest experiences. Primary Responsibilities Major Market Group Sales & Revenue Generation Carry and achieve an assigned Major Market group sales quota as a core individual production responsibility. Personally prospect, solicit, negotiate, close, and grow Major Market group business in support of hotel revenue and profitability goals. Build and actively manage a Major Market group sales pipeline, maintaining accurate account, opportunity, and forecast information in the hotel's CRM and sales systems. Develop and execute account plans for high‑value group accounts, including strategic prospecting, client engagement, site inspections, presentations, entertainment, and follow‑up. Provide strategic guidance on rate, date, space, concessions, and contract commitments for group opportunities. Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts while developing, entertaining, and maintaining relationships with existing clients. Assist the Sales team in achieving individual and annual revenue goals while remaining accountable for personal Major Market group production. Develop compelling sales presentations, proposals, and site inspections that showcase the hotel's unique offerings. Utilize brand promotions, marketing initiatives, sales programs, and available resources to maximize business opportunities. Monitor travel industry trends, market conditions, and economic factors to identify opportunities and inform sales strategies. Represent the hotel through community involvement, networking events, customer entertainment, industry organizations, trade shows, and business travel. Partner closely with the DOSM to execute strategic and tactical sales initiatives that support overall hotel revenue goals. Lead, coach, mentor, and inspire a high‑performing sales team while fostering accountability, engagement, and professional development. Maintain a strong onsite presence to provide daily leadership, support, and guidance to Sales colleagues. Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and retention efforts for Sales team members. Conduct performance discussions and support colleague development plans and performance management initiatives. Organize and lead sales meetings and participate in hotel leadership meetings as required. Serve as Acting Director of Sales & Marketing in the absence of the DOSM. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Partnership Foster strong partnerships between the Sales team and operational departments across the hotel. Collaborate closely with Revenue Management, Events, Food & Beverage, Rooms Division, Finance, Engineering, and People & Culture to ensure seamless execution of business opportunities. Promote a “One Hotel, One Team” culture built on communication, accountability, and mutual support. Serve as a trusted business partner to department leaders, ensuring operational readiness and exceptional service delivery for clients and guests. Build and maintain strong external relationships with clients, community partners, and industry stakeholders to strengthen the hotel's market presence. Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration that enhances colleague engagement and overall hotel performance. Administrative & Operational Leadership Provide administrative oversight for the Sales department, including payroll review and approval, scheduling, attendance administration, and time‑off request management. Partner with People & Culture on colleague relations, performance management, coaching, corrective action, and recognition initiatives. Assist with annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic sales initiatives. Monitor hotel financial performance relative to budget and forecast objectives. Compile, review, and analyze departmental reports, including monthly and quarterly forecasts, booking pace reports, STAR reports, quota performance, and other sales metrics. Participate in ownership meetings and executive leadership discussions as required. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Salary Range: $106,300–$126,000 annually, plus eligibility to participate in an applicable incentive plan. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of progressive hotel sales experience with a proven track record of driving revenue growth, carrying a sales quota, and achieving or exceeding sales goals. Demonstrated experience producing Major Market group business and managing a group sales pipeline from prospecting through conversion and execution. Experience within an upscale, luxury, lifestyle, or boutique hotel environment preferred. Prior leadership or supervisory experience with demonstrated success coaching, training, mentoring, and developing sales professionals. Experience managing key sales processes, including account qualification, referral generation, prospecting, business development, negotiation, and closing. Strong understanding of hotel sales strategy, revenue management, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis. Excellent analytical, negotiation, presentation, communication, and organizational skills. Outstanding relationship‑building skills with the ability to foster strong internal and external partnerships and create meaningful connections with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders. Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments, influence outcomes through cross‑functional relationships, and foster a culture of partnership, accountability, and teamwork. Experience supporting administrative functions, including payroll administration, scheduling, time‑off management, colleague development, and performance management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as hotel sales and CRM systems. High‑energy, results‑driven, self‑motivated leader with a passion for hospitality, exceptional customer service, and colleague development. Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, ownership groups, and executive leadership.
