Job Description

The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System in Cleveland, OH is seeking one full-time MD/DO Anatomic Pathologist to join the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. Clinical duties involve signing out surgical, cytology, as well as hematopathology cases. In addition, the candidate will collaborate with outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and the Comprehensive Cancer Center to ensure that seamless and coordinated care is provided to patients. Teaching and research opportunities as well as academic appointments will be coordinated through Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. The Cleveland VAMC is a large tertiary care academic medical center serving all of Northeast Ohio with academic affiliations with University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (UHCMC), MetroHealth Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic healthcare system. Duties

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Overseeing daily operations of the anatomic pathology section.
• Directing clinical and support staff, including pathologists, technicians, and support staff.
• Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure high quality diagnostic services.
• Ensuring compliance with CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory bodies.
• Performing and reviewing diagnostic surgical pathology and cytopathology assessments.
• Conducting autopsies and forensic examinations when necessary.
• Interpreting diagnostic specimens and providing expert opinions.
• Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of pathology results.
• Mentoring and training residents, fellows, and medical students.
• Leading educational initiatives, conferences, and seminars.
• Keeping staff informed about evolving best practices and innovations in anatomic pathology.
• Implementing and monitoring quality control programs.
• Analyzing diagnostic performance data and driving continuous improvement.
• Addressing any issues affecting diagnostic accuracy or laboratory performance.
• Leading or collaborating on research projects in anatomic pathology.
• Managing research grants. Publishing findings and presenting at scientific meetings.
• Working closely with other clinical departments to coordinate patient care.
• Participating in multidisciplinary tumor boards. Consulting on complex clinical cases requiring specialized expertise.
• Managing budgets and resource allocation for the pathology section.
• Participating in departmental strategic planning and committee work.
• Representing anatomic pathology in hospital leadership forums.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with a rotational call schedule.

Pay

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
