Human Resources Generalist

Job Description Talent management, talent acquisition to attract and retain top talent and reduce unemployment and high cost of turnover. Employee relations that result in a positive working environment. Organizational development planning. Employee development, including onboarding, ongoing training and development, and related needs assessment. Ensure that all positions have an approved job description and that they are updated as needed. Responsible for providing HR guidance/support to management in areas such as competency development, succession planning, labor relations, employment law compliance, employee relations, employee engagement, change management and process improvement. Develop performance management and improvement systems that support achievement of individual, department and company goals. Provide guidance and direction to Managers and Supervisors to ensure consistent, equitable treatment of all employees. Consult and coach managers to ensure consistent application of and adherence to company policies and procedures. Work proactively with managers to ensure appropriate disciplinary action is taken and that any layoffs and terminations are done appropriately and documented. Increase communication and transparency with company‑wide meetings, performance management tools and incentive programs. Conduct and manage investigations of complaints and concerns that could result in legal ramifications; assess severity, involve appropriate individuals and facilitate recommendations based on policy and practice. Finalize and update the Employee Handbook as needed. Maintain ongoing compensation in alignment with salary and pay‑scale evaluation. Manage leave of absence, disability and workers’ compensation issues. Develop employee safety, injury prevention and wellness programs. Ensure payroll records and employee files are properly maintained and compliant. Ensure compliance with all employment‑related state and federal laws and regulations, including knowledge of California wage and hour laws and ability to research other state laws for business needs. Continue to remain current on employment laws at the city, state and federal level. Benefit administration, management and maintenance. HR Department Specific Proactive and responsive management, supervision and motivation of HR staff. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and workload distribution to meet department and business needs. Establish expectations and conduct regular accountability conversations to review what’s working, what needs improvement and what additional support is needed to ensure success for individuals and the company. Preferred: Related college degree, BA or BS. Experience 5 years’ demonstrated experience in leading and managing an HR department that provides concierge‑level service. Be detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills. Model accountability, measure progress and hold self and others accountable for desired results. Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Knowledge & Skills Excellent written and oral communications skills, including fluent in English: speaking, understanding, reading and writing; excellent written documentation skills. Ability to converse on financial and business matters. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Working knowledge of Spanish is desirable, but not required. Industry‑specific knowledge, including familiarity with the construction industry and electrical contracting preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. Understanding of general office procedures, accounting cycle and budgeting. Working conditions Fast‑paced environment requiring flexibility, adaptability and resilience in a wide variety of work situations. Customer service may include interacting with challenging clients and tight deadlines. General office environment with low to medium noise, heat, cold and dust levels. May be exposed to high dust, heat and noise levels when visiting field job sites and/or client locations. Occasional emergency calls after hours, holidays and on weekends. #J-18808-Ljbffr
