Job Description and Duties

The California Victim Compensation Board's (CalVCB) mission is to provide financial assistance to victims of crime.  We are looking for a leader to help support the Program by leading the Information Technology Division and proudly be a part of the team that helps Californians when they are at their most vulnerable.  If you want to lead a critical part of our organization and be a significant member of an executive management team, we want you to apply!   

The DEO is responsible for the day-to-day administration of all activities related to Enterprise Services Section, Application Development Section and Information Security Section. The incumbent works closely with the Executive Officer, Chief Deputy Executive Officer, Deputy Executive Officers, and their management team to develop policies affecting all internal programs and activities, and consults with the Executive Office, management, and staff on information technology matters.

This position provides hybrid telework opportunities, with employees required to work in person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Special Requirements

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) describes your experience, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to  each item listed below.   You must provide specific examples for each item  in the order listed below or you will be given a disqualifying score. The SOQ, application and resume act as the examination that is required for the C.E.A. classification and  shall be the basis for the candidate’s final score and rank on the eligible list.   Each candidate’s Statement of Qualification is  not to exceed two (2) pages and no smaller than 11 point font and must clearly and concisely identify experience in the 3 categories exactly as they are listed below and must be in the following order:

1. D escribe your experience managing the operations of a complex information technology branch or section and your experience leading and directing innovative, productive, and responsive information technology.

2. Describe your experience in a lead capacity or providing oversight of a modernization effort, including applicable experience with contract and vendor management.

3. Describe your experience developing policies and procedures for complex information technology systems that include analyzing highly complex problems, recommending effective courses of action, and developing performance metrics and reporting standards that ensure consistency and track results.

Location

CalVCB is located at 400 R Street in downtown Sacramento, blocks from the light rail and public transportation and within walking distance to restaurants, Sacramento River levee bike trail, the State Capitol, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50 and Highway 80.
