Registered Nurse- Tele/FT/Nights

Location East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital – 4060 Whittier Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90023, USA. Job Title Registered Nurse – Full Time: 3 shifts per week, weekend availability required. Compensation Base Rate: $41.73 – $61.35. 12‑hour shifts paid overtime after 8 hours, average rate $48.69 – $71.57. Sign‑on / Retention Bonus: $10,000 (Full Time Only). Job Summary Responsible for the provision and coordination of patient‑centered care. The Registered Nurse coordinates care to achieve desired outcomes, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by delegating and working cooperatively and collaboratively with ancillary, nursing and other patient team members in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice and performance in the clinical setting. The RN must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service to all patients. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication. Essential functions apply to all RN positions along with additional department‑specific functions as listed. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act. Essential Functions Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs. Accurately obtain & record results of assessment, care delivery, medication and administration, treatments, responses in the electronic medical record or on designation documentation packets. Adjust specialized medical equipment as needed, and interpret and record measurements. Monitor patients’ vital signs and report adverse reactions to medication in a timely manner. Answer questions and educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post‑surgery care. Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records. Collect current symptoms, detailed patient history and consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement & evaluate patient care plans. Organize and plan care of patients, assess and determine treatment rationale and delivery, follow protocols, administer medications with accuracy and knowledge, and educate patients. Perform daily checks of and clean equipment such as, but not limited to, monitors, code equipment, crash cart checks and oxygen cylinders. Prepare and administer medications using the rights established by the State Board of Nursing and facility policies and procedures. Use clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients and all internal and external customers. Use AIDET in interactions with patients and family members. Utilize white boards for patient communication. Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including but not limited to patient transfer, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Monitor patients using proper equipment as ordered. Triage patients appropriately using the ESI (Emergency Severity Index) system. Arrive to work prepared to receive patient report on time. Provide discharge instructions, follow‑up care and education to patients and family members. Abide by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations. Utilize SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) when communicating with oncoming shift, physician communication and giving report to ancillary or other nursing services. Utilize the Nursing Process ADPIE (Assessment, Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation) to secure individualized and methodical patient care. Speak up to stop the line and elevate potential safety events if necessary. Act quickly, appropriately and with a sense of urgency and prioritization in delivery of patient care. Stabilize patients by coordinating with medical staff providers, EMS, coworkers, patients, and family members in a professional, calm manner. Float to other areas of the hospital as assigned. Stock assigned rooms and keep work areas clean. Other duties as assigned. Telemetry Monitor EKG output and keep doctor informed of any changes. Behavioral Standards Treat everyone as a customer; utilize scripting and other tools to ensure consistency in customer service; express recognition and show appreciation to others; fully utilize AIDET principles; respond quickly to handle requests, complaints, and questions; display a positive attitude. Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, passion and care when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff members. Use a lens of equity in all aspects of patient care delivery, education, and research to promote policies and practices that allow opportunities for all to thrive and reach their potential, embracing ingenuity to serve our customers. Communication / Knowledge Wear nametag properly; follow dress code policy; answer phone correctly and promptly; be prepared for meetings; meet deadlines; do not gossip; act ethically and treat others with respect; respect customer’s and co‑worker’s time; establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and co‑workers. Attend staff meetings; follow HIPAA guidelines; follow patient rights policy; comply with the compliance program; demonstrate knowledge of role in a disaster; demonstrate knowledge of fire and fire drill procedures; have working knowledge of hospital emergency codes; always utilize standard precautions in the clinical setting; safely manage the environment of care by demonstrating a working knowledge of Life Safety, Utilities Management, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Preparedness, Safety Management, Medical Equipment Management, Security Management programs. Qualifications / Experience One (1) year’s experience preferred in the area applied for. In‑depth knowledge of best practices in area/specialty applied for. Adaptable to changing work schedules and patient needs. Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills; ability to read/comprehend written instructions; strong organizational skills; ability to follow verbal instructions; PC (computer) skills. A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with team members who are recognized leaders within health care.
