Director of Operations

Key Responsibilities Retail Operations Leadership Lead daily operations across all 15 retail locations and the warehouse. Directly manage and develop Area Managers, the District Manager, and the Warehouse Manager. Establish clear operational expectations and ensure consistent execution across every store and the warehouse. Drive accountability through store visits, coaching, and performance reviews. Identify operational risks and implement corrective action plans. Leadership Development Coach Area Managers, Store Managers, the District Manager, and Warehouse Managers. Develop succession plans. Ensure managers understand company expectations, policies, and SOPs. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Operational Excellence & Scaling Standardize operational processes and build scalable operating procedures. Ensure compliance with SOPs, merchandising standards, inventory practices, and customer service expectations. Conduct operational audits and build infrastructure to support growth to 25+ stores. Create organizational structure that supports expansion; partner with department leaders to improve efficiency. Monitor sales, payroll, labor, shrink, inventory accuracy, and operating expenses. Analyze trends and improve profitability; hold Area Managers accountable for results. Inventory & Supply Chain Partnership Partner with the Warehouse Manager to improve inventory flow and ensure operational readiness. Resolve recurring inventory issues. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication Partner with HR on leadership coaching, performance management, employee relations, recruiting, workforce planning, and organizational development. Collaborate with Marketing, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams. Provide proactive updates to Ownership; present KPI dashboards and recommendations. Communicate priorities to Area Managers, the District Manager, and Warehouse Managers; ensure alignment across departments. Organizational Structure Direct Reports: Director of Purchasing Head of Human Resources Warehouse Manager Assistant Warehouse Manager 8 Warehouse Associates (including 3 Drivers) Performance Metrics Labor Costs & Payroll Efficiency Inventory Accuracy & Shrink Customer Satisfaction Employee Retention & Turnover Store Audit Scores & Safety Compliance Training Completion Corrective Action Trends Qualifications 7+ years of multi-unit retail leadership, including direct management of Area or District Managers. Strong retail operations and financial acumen. Demonstrated experience building scalable operational systems — not simply maintaining existing ones. Experience growing a retail business from 15+ locations to a significantly larger footprint highly preferred. Deep experience with inventory management, operational audits, KPI development, store performance metrics, retail compliance, and process improvement. Warehouse and distribution oversight experience.
