Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU / Stepdown)

Contract | Days | 3 x 12-hour shifts | Expected 36 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity, cardiac-focused PCU unit managing complex patient populations including heart failure, A-Fib, VTach, VFib, STEMI/NSTEMI, LVAD, and heart transplant patients
• Independently interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry monitoring; must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt using calipers (no remediation opportunities)
• Administer and titrate common cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Perform and assist with procedures including chest tube management, sheath removal, TR band management, groin site management, and post-procedure care for catheterizations, cardioversions, ablations, pacemakers, and ICDs
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5 with frequent admissions, discharges, and significant procedural volume
• Float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed; travelers will not float to Cardiac Monitor Tech roles

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Georgia or a compact state license applicable to Georgia
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
• Demonstrated experience with cardiac drips, telemetry interpretation, and prior successful completion of a telemetry exam
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must have chest tube experience and a rating of "4" on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (no local travelers)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Heart transplant experience preferred (training may be available)
• LVAD experience preferred (training may be available)
• Familiarity with congenital heart disease patient populations
• Experience with valve replacement procedures and stent placement post-procedure care
