Job Description
ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Join our Critical Care Float Pool for night shifts with flexibility to meet unit needs as they arise. Nurses will float to various Intensive Care Units (ICUs) based on staffing and patient acuity, including:

• Neuro ICU
• Surgical ICUs
• Medical ICUs (MICU)
• Cardiology/Diagnostics
• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Key Responsibilities:

• Float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients.
• Administer medications and perform treatments as necessary.
• Monitor patient vital signs, diagnosing and interpreting changes in condition.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience is required.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EPIC) is required.
• Experience with IV starts and telemetry management is essential.
• Familiarity with ventilator management is necessary.
• Teaching hospital experience is preferred.
• Previous travel nursing experience is strongly preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

• IV therapy and management of intravenous lines.
• Care and management of ventilated patients, including BiPAP/CPAP administration.
• Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs).
• Capability to assist with chest tube insertion and removal (preferred).
• Understanding of central line management and blood product administration.
• Knowledge in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure.

Work Schedule:

• 3x12 Night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• Every other weekend coverage is required.
• Orientation hours total 36.

Additional Information:

This position requires floating to different units as needed to ensure optimal patient care. Nurses are expected to demonstrate flexibility in assignments while adhering to established protocols and procedures. The daily census exceeds 900 patients, and you will work as part of a dedicated interdisciplinary support team.
