Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience License: Required RN license Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred; Basic Cardiac Rhythm required Must-Have: Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills. IV insertion and care, central line management required. Telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills needed. Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Tele. The facility has 637 licensed beds and is a Level 1 Trauma Designation teaching hospital. The unit has a capacity of 35 beds with an average census of 35 patients. Common patient types include orthopedic and trauma cases, as well as patients with acute or chronic diseases. Common diagnoses involve fractures, head trauma, and post-operative care, alongside various comorbidities such as diabetes and hypertension. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:6. Support staff includes CNAs who assist with vital signs, glucose checks, patient bathing, feeding, ambulation, and hourly rounding. The unit has a receptionist and designated resource nurses as well as 24/7 respiratory and hospitalist services. Technology utilized includes EMR, telemetry monitors, IV pumps, and multiple unit-specific equipment. Floating may occur to other adult med-surg or telemetry units within the facility. Dress code includes navy scrubs for RNs. Weekend rotations consist of 5-6 weekend shifts per cycle. Holiday expectations include working one shift of each major holiday. Requests for time off require managerial approval. The unit culture is described as busy, with a focus on teamwork.
