Bookkeeper

Our client, a Recreational sports and training facility in Secaucus, NJ is seeking a Bookkeeper to join their accounting team. Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in bookkeeping demonstrating a good working knowledge of maintaining general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, ach and wire transfer and bank reconciliations. Must be a good communicator and able to work effectively with vendors, customers, and collections. Responsibilities include all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes including but not limited to: Review POS sales ledgers, review till cash-outs, identify discrepancies, authorize bank deposits A/P, A/R, General Ledger and Chart of Account maintenance; Reconcile bank accounts and manage cash transfers among them; Manage weekly data transfer between POS system and QB through structured process which verifies the fidelity of the transactional data and its recordation in proper target ledgers; Track purchase orders placed by Store Purchasing and supervise the receiving process and documents for inventory management and vendor payment Prepare vendor payments and cash expenses on a weekly basis Process bi-weekly payroll with QuickBooks Perform monthly inventory cycle counts and inventory analysis; Record monthly credit card and petty cash / manual check expenses Prepare monthly sales tax reports, make payment upon ownership authorization Identify and investigate meaningful variances, then investigate and formulate solution Prepare all reports and adjusting entries on a monthly basis to forward to CPA Receive, organize and maintain accounting information (in hard copy or electronic form) Prepare files for annual compilation review with CPA firm Maintain company mercantile licenses with relevant authorities and file annual reports with NJ State Treasure Manage confidential employee information and respond to HR policy questions Manage employee records including WC claims, HR training and occupational health programs Manage record keeping and filings with NJ DEP, OSHA and local agency authorities to maintain licenses and compliance with regulatory requirements Qualifications: Most recent employment must be directly in bookkeeping/accounting function Bachelor’s Degree in accounting 10+ years of bookkeeping and / or accounting experience Exceptional QB skillset, to enable daily success and manage the migration from QB desktop to QB on-line platforms; Mastery of Microsoft Excel and Word; Extensive experience with driving annual closings to completion; Natural inclination to organize information, identify trends, analyze discrepancies and communicate with senior management / ownership Interest in growing into Controller position to be promoted from within; The compensation for this position ranges from $70,000.00 - $90,000.00.
