Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ED - Emergency Department\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/12/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, evenings\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Evenings, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 12, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position requiring ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.Details\n \n Level 1 Trauma, STEMI-receiving, and Stroke Center Emergency Department in an acute care hospital setting\n Includes a Peds ER with 23 beds and no separate trauma bays\n Cares for a wide range of patients from newborns to elderly, including critically ill, trauma, stroke, and cardiac patients\n Level 1/2 trauma patients are managed by a specialized trauma team; travelers may care for stabilized trauma patients once transferred to a pod\n Average daily ED volume of approximately 233 patients (189 adults, 44 pediatric)\n Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4, or 1:5 in low-acuity vertical care areas\n Utilizes EPIC EMR system\n Evening shift schedule, 1p-1a, 12-hour shifts\n 36 guaranteed hours per week with 12 non-billable orientation hours\n Scheduling is managed by the scheduling manager; travelers do not self-schedule but may submit time-off requests\n ED techs support nursing staff at a 9:1 ratio, assisting with EKGs and vitals\n Respiratory therapists assist with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment, though RNs perform breathing treatments and ABGs\n Tele monitor techs are present, but nurses must be able to interpret and act on cardiac rhythms using Phillips monitors\n Radiology or transport staff handle patient transport to X-ray or CT\n Nurses and techs typically draw labs, with phlebotomy assisting for boarder patients\n Requirements\n \n Active IL RN license or confirmation that the licensure process has been initiated\n Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC\n ENPC and NRP certifications are a bonus but not required\n Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required\n At least 1 prior travel assignment preferred\n SANE RN experience preferred\n Experience at a teaching hospital with residents preferred\n Proficiency with vasopressor and cardiac drip titration required\n Must be able to recognize and act on life-threatening cardiac rhythms\n Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels as OSF is a Drug-Free Campus\n Additional Information\n \n Work alongside ED attendings, residents, charge nurses, and house supervisors on each shift\n Two charge nurses and two house supervisors are present per shift; charge nurses typically do not carry a full patient assignment\n Provide direct patient care including breathing treatments, ABGs, and EKGs with a goal turnaround of 10 minutes\n Local rate applies for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility\n No radius rule restricts eligibility for this position\n COVID vaccination is not required for consideration\n Cancellation policy allows up to 12 hours per 13-week assignment without penalty\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-762840.
