CPS Accounting Technician II (18086) Location: 2525 MURWORTH, HOUSTON, TX. Shift: Day (additional days available). Telework: Eligible. Salary Range: $2,953.25 - $4,365.66 per month. Department: Region 6B CPS Director Division – Other. Agency: Department of Family & Protective Services. Flexible spending accounts. Employee discounts. Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records for children’s income accounts, ensuring compliance. Audit, reconcile, and approve financial reports for accuracy and completeness. Process child-specific contracts, foster care pre‑bills, and billing alerts, including related payments. Verify Social Security income awarded to children in foster care. Monitor accounts and general ledgers for discrepancies and make necessary adjustments. Prepare detailed financial and analytical reports to support program operations and management decisions. Communicate with program staff, management, and external partners regarding account status, payments, and contract matters. Respond to inquiries orally and in writing regarding accounting issues. Perform other duties as required to support unit operations. Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent. Two (2) years of full‑time accounting, bookkeeping, financial, or clerical experience. College education (60 semester hours) may substitute for experience on a 1:1 basis. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of accounting principles, automated accounting systems, spreadsheets, and financial software. Skill in performing detailed numerical work quickly and accurately. Skill in analyzing financial data, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts. Skill in preparing clear, concise, accurate financial and analytical reports. Skill in organizing work and prioritizing to meet deadlines. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, management, and partners. Ability to interpret and apply accounting policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently.
