About Us Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM), established in 1969, is a premier institution dedicated to advancing aviation maintenance education. With 15 campuses nationwide, AIM serves about 20% of all students at FAA‑certified Airframe & Powerplant schools across the country. Compensation Compensation: $20‑$28 per hour. Position Purpose The Financial Aid Advisor (also known as the Financial Aid Officer) manages and processes financial aid documentation for students, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The role evaluates financial aid applications, provides guidance, and facilitates student access to funding. Key Duties Understand and apply financial aid regulations, process applications accurately, and maintain up‑to‑date records. Provide exceptional support to students by clearly explaining financial aid options and guiding them through the application process. Work effectively with other departments to resolve issues and enhance the student experience, demonstrating strong analytical and organizational skills. Job Responsibilities Process financial aid documentation, including VA Education Benefits, Military Tuition Assistance, and scholarships. Monitor FAFSA submissions and receipt of ISIRs, maintaining accurate records and completing timely verification for selected files. Track submission of Master Promissory Notes (MPNs) via COD and conduct entrance and exit loan counseling sessions. Stay updated on financial aid regulations, reviewing incomplete files and disbursing funds only when students are eligible. Monitor student accounts to ensure proper financial aid packaging and oversee cash flow for timely disbursement. Meet with incoming students to explain aid options and provide ongoing support, referring to appropriate staff for academic advising when needed. Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned by Campus Director of Compliance & Administration, Campus Assistant Director, or Campus Executive Director. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED with financial aid experience. College‑level coursework in accounting, finance, or related field. Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn new financial aid software. Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and work with a diverse student population. Must not be in default on federal student loans. Strong dedication to providing excellent customer service and timely support. Flexible and available to work outside scheduled hours when required. Preferred Qualifications Proprietary school financial aid experience.
