Make a difference in the lives of high school students by providing crucial mental health and counseling services in a welcoming educational environment. As a Mental Health Specialist working with general education students, you’ll play an essential role in promoting emotional well-being through individual and group support, as well as contributing to positive school-wide initiatives. If you are passionate about supporting student success and ready for a contract role in a collaborative high school setting, you’ll thrive here.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or related mental health field (bachelor’s degrees will not be considered)
- Current and valid Michigan licensure—LARA Licensure required (with supervision if applicable depending on credential)
- Experience working with adolescents or within school settings strongly preferred
- Proficiency in electronic documentation and SOAP notes, with strong skills using Google Workspace
- Familiarity with implementing social-emotional learning and positive behavior support
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social-emotional counseling and support to general education students, individually and in groups
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation using SOAP notes
- Collaborate with classroom staff to support student needs and help implement professional learning or positive behavior programs
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a positive school climate
