Director of Dining & Food Services

The Director of Dining Services is responsible for overseeing the Food Service Department, ensuring high-quality meal service, compliance with regulations, and efficient departmental operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and support to dining services staff.
• Manage the department budget and maintain financial accountability.
• Conduct routine food safety and sanitation self-audits.
• Interview, hire, and train dining services staff
• Create and manage staff schedules
• Oversee meal preparation and service, ensuring plating standards.
• Maintain a visible management presence in the department.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is operational and report repairs as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Prior experience in a similar role.
• Experience in a healthcare food service setting.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to operate food preparation equipment safely.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.

Education & Certifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• ServSafe Certification required.
• CDM Certification preferred or willingness to enroll in the course.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Ability to bend, kneel, and reach without accommodation.
• Proficiency in reading and speaking English.
• Ability to navigate all areas of the kitchen.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Willingness to work in varying temperatures within the kitchen environment.
