The Supervisor II – Night Shift is responsible for overseeing all second shift activities in a steel manufacturing and assembly environment. This role provides leadership to production teams, ensures safe and efficient operations, and drives performance in the areas of safety, quality, cost and delivery. The position plans, assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages all shift operations to ensure that adequate and efficient human capital, material and information resources are available. Responsible for the organization exceeding or meeting the estimated cost, quality and delivery requirements. Keeps the Plant Manager and Operations Manager informed about performance issues, plans and progress in meeting goals. Assist the Plant manager in directing the activities of the spiral mills, repair welding, hydrostatic testing, end prep and shipping departments. Works with quality assurance, production control and maintenance departments to ensure smooth operation of all manufacturing departments. Ensures products are in specifications and meet delivery and cost estimates. Communicates with other team members to prevent, clarify and correct problems. Ensure effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development Resolves employee issues through problem resolution. Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provides regular progress reports to managers. Perform Safety Audits and ensure the mill and other machinery operate safely. Performs safety meetings. Ability to lead people and get results through others. Ability to think ahead, plan over a 30–90-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results. Conduct performance reviews. Set goals and standards for teams. Balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations. Ensure all team members adhere to Quality orientation and attention to detail. Provides and assists Plant Manager in problem analysis and resolution. Inventory and managing all materials Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Comply with quality policies and ISO audits and procedures. Comply with SOX procedures. Collaborate with all team members on issues related to the mill. Use product specifications and release dates to determine product costs and resource needs. Apply lean principles. Create, Implement and manage five projects. Conduct safety meetings.SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and assign priority to maintenance upgrades. Perform preventive maintenance as needed. Monitor and control maintenance budget. Other duties may be assigned.JOB SCOPE:
The individual in this position supervises a group of non-exempt production employees and provides them with the resources to do their jobs.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision of fabrication, coating and lining, patch and painting, end prep, hydro, materials handling, mill operations, repair welding and pick up welding departments during assigned shift.INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
This position may interact within all levels of the Northwest Pipe organization. Additionally, this position may have contact with business partners, customers, vendors, visitors and / or government agencies.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Must be willing to work the evening and night shifts. Hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and electrical skills are a must. The ability to read schematics and plans. Ability to ready, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED, 4-5 years of experience in each phase of Production operation including Management of People, Process implementation, Packaging and Logistics. Experience in the Pipe, Steel or heavy highway industry or must be willing to learn and be familiar with the above-mentioned.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
