Workplace Catering Manager

Location: Berkeley, CA Job Type: Full-Time Compensation: $70,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience About The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Workplace Catering Manager to oversee and grow corporate meal programs from end to end. This role combines client relationship management, catering operations, menu planning, logistics, and team leadership . The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building strong relationships with corporate clients and managing the fast‑paced operational details required to deliver fresh, accurate, and on‑time meals across multiple locations. You will serve as a key point of contact for clients while coordinating closely with culinary, delivery, and support teams to ensure a consistently high level of service. Key Responsibilities Client & Account Management Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with corporate clients. Serve as the primary point of contact for client questions, feedback, requests, and issue resolution. Manage client expectations regarding menus, pricing, lead times, and service requirements. Identify opportunities to increase account retention, recurring business, and revenue. Support proposals, pricing, and planning for recurring programs and special events. Menu & Catering Management Develop and customize menus based on client preferences, dietary requirements, allergens, variety, and budget. Apply strong knowledge of food, culinary operations, and catering best practices. Coordinate menu and ingredient planning across multiple client programs to maximize efficiency. Work closely with culinary teams on capacity planning, food costs, and production requirements. Catering Operations & Logistics Oversee daily catering operations from order intake through delivery and setup. Coordinate multiple simultaneous orders and time‑sensitive deliveries. Monitor delivery accuracy, presentation, food quality, and service standards. Respond quickly and effectively to last‑minute operational challenges. Maintain appropriate inventory and quality‑control processes. Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Be available for early‑morning starts when supporting breakfast programs. Team Leadership & Performance Hire, train, schedule, and supervise delivery and support personnel. Establish clear expectations and maintain strong communication across teams. Monitor operational KPIs, including delivery accuracy, labor costs, service quality, and client retention. Partner with culinary and operations teams to improve efficiency and service delivery. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in food service, hospitality, catering, workplace dining, or related operations. At least 2 years in a management, catering, or account‑management role. Demonstrated success managing and retaining B2B or corporate accounts. Experience managing catering operations involving multiple concurrent orders and time‑sensitive deliveries. Strong understanding of menu planning, dietary/allergen requirements, food costs, and catering operations. Excellent client‑facing communication and relationship‑building skills. Calm, organized, and solutions‑oriented approach to problem‑solving. Food safety certification such as ServSafe Manager, or ability to obtain certification within 60 days. Comfortable using scheduling, ordering/POS, spreadsheet, and other operational tools. Ability to track, analyze, and communicate operational KPIs. Valid driver's license and ability to travel between client locations as needed. Professional, polished, and customer‑focused presentation in corporate client environments. Preferred Qualifications Culinary or hospitality experience in a high‑volume or high‑pressure restaurant environment. Experience in the San Francisco Bay Area corporate catering or workplace dining market. Familiarity with workplace catering platforms and corporate meal programs. Experience managing recurring, subscription‑style, or contract‑based corporate food programs. Conversational Spanish or bilingual English/Spanish skills.
