The Training and Development Manager plays an integral role in the learning and professional development of the organization and staff. You are responsible for helping ensure The Pathfinder Network programs are fully supported to consistently deliver high quality prevention and intervention services across community and corrections settings. You will assist in training, continuous quality improvement practices and implementation of best practices across the state in order to promote innovation, effective practice and fidelity to agency curricula and programming. You will be empowered to develop, implement, oversee, coach, and assess outcomes. You will provide support in various forms to agency staff and are responsible for developing learning opportunities to enhance existing skills and provide ongoing development. You will provide professional and other needed support to the Program Support Team.
Responsibilities Training Management and Delivery
- Design, deliver and support organizational and external training.
- Lead and coordinate training and onboarding of new staff.
- Facilitate agency curricula and programming when needed.
- Conduct site visits to support staff in corrections and community programs.
- Provide support to all agency programs and assist in the development, implementation, sustainability and redesign of programs.
- Oversee and conduct observations, written feedback and coaching of staff and Training and Development Specialists.
- Lead and oversee efforts to provide holistic support to staff, as well as staff support calls and regular on-site support.
- Assist with the implementation of agency training map serving all levels of the organization.
- Map, design and implement training goals and objectives agency wide.
- Develop curriculum, supportive content and materials.
- Oversee and ensure fidelity of all curricula and programming and maintain all training and development related documents and databases.
- Collect and maintain fidelity, feedback and coaching data.
- Analyze, summarize and visualize fidelity, feedback and coaching data.
- Assist with grant and contracts proposals.
- Assist with agency reporting and program evaluations.
- Partner in the assessment, revision and development of organizational policy and procedure.
- Assist with the development and be a leader in the agency trauma-informed care and diversity, equity, inclusion and justice initiatives and implementation processes.
- Stay current on policy, research and best practices, including reading journals and published research and articles.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Manage and motivate Training and Development Specialists and collaborate to develop performance goals with action steps to support their success and growth.
- Ensure staff and teams are resourced and supported to remove barriers and problem-solve.
- Support internal collaboration among departments.
- Assist with individual observations of staff, provide feedback, training and coaching.
- Facilitate regular team meetings while fostering a team environment and support staff's professional development.
- Manage the coordination, planning, and completion of all department goals and KPIs.
- Be a champion in the shaping and sustaining of a diverse, equitable, inclusive and just workplace, with a focus towards creating racial equity.
- Participate on cross-departmental teams or committees regarding organizational policies, processes and work environment.
- Participate in Temporary Teams, Equity Team, Employee Resource Groups, and other teams.
- Contribute individualized skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to help the agency reach its mission.
- Bachelor's Degree; preferably in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Human Resources (Training) or other related field
- 3-5 years social work, program management and service delivery experience - preferably in a corrections or nonprofit setting
- 3-5 years of training experience developing and delivering training
- 3-5 years facilitating cognitive behavioral groups
- Experience with evidence-based programs and program fidelity tools preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in making presentations to internal and external audiences
- Excellence in developing and maintaining internal and external partnerships
- Ability to provide coaching and written feedback to staff
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to enter and maintain program data
- Must be at least 21 years of age to gain access to Correctional Facilities. As a requirement of TPN's contract with the Oregon Department of Corrections, all TPN employees who work inside DOC are required to meet DOC criteria for institution access. The following charges disqualify individuals from institution access: Misdemeanor conviction within the past 3 years or any felony conviction
- Must pass a criminal history background check (a criminal record is not automatically disqualifying), employment verification, and drug screen (which does not include testing for marijuana)
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a motor vehicle during work hours that is covered by adequate car insurance
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check that meets the organization's underwriting criteria
- Intermediate level computer capabilities in use of databases, web-based environments, word processing, email, and spreadsheets

The Pathfinder Network follows public health guidance for any public health emergencies and will remain in compliance with any vaccination or isolation requirements from partner agencies.
This job operates in two types of work environments: within a correctional setting and a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. May be exposed to dust particles and extreme temperature changes.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, substantial walking while working at correctional institutions is possible as many correctional campuses are over 100 acres. There will also be a need to present training material in front of a group, which may be done standing or sitting. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, talk or hear, reach with hands and arms, balance and stoop, kneel or crouch.
Substantial statewide travel (50% or more) is required for trainings and/or meetings, which could take place at the Administrative Office, program sites, or inside a Correctional Facility.
This is a full-time, exempt position. Typical days of work are Monday through Friday; however, evening and weekend work is required as needed.
