The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for proactively soliciting new residential first mortgage loans to existing and prospective customers to meet established loan quality and production goals. The MLO will develop and maintain a strong network of business relationships to ensure a recurring source for mortgage loan referrals. The MLO will enhance this network by regularly participating in business-related development opportunities, community events and professional organizations. Develop a purchase pipeline by building a network of sources to refer potential buyers Discuss the Bank’s mortgage programs with current and prospective customers Negotiate terms and conditions of loans with customers Complete an initial assessment of the mortgage application including a review of credit, financial data, and collateral information to identify underwriting concerns upfront Obtain complete mortgage applications, including required supporting documentation and work closely with operations staff throughout the loan process Grow customer relationships by working with other Bank departments such as branch staff, commercial loan teams, investment services, etc. Stay current with trends and developments in the local real estate market, as well as the changing rules and regulations pertaining to first mortgages Make presentations and represent FNB at functions, as directed Meet minimum production goals and standards, as assigned Develop and implement a marketing territory to educate the community regarding the Bank's CRA programs and efforts Originate creditworthy home loans in designated low- and moderate-income areas Comply with all applicable banking compliance rules and regulations established by both internal departments and external agencies What You’ll Need to be Successful Adaptability – ability to adapt to changes in the work environment while maintaining effectiveness Ambition – look for, and take advantage of, new opportunities Collaboration – ability to work well with other departments and individuals; maintain communication needed to keep the workflow going Communication – strong oral and written communication skills Energy – operate with vigor, excitement, humor, effectiveness, and determination over extended periods of time Initiative – strive to continuously build knowledge and skills and share expertise with others Problem Solving – identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully and develop alternative solutions Professionalism – treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position Quality – seek out and apply feedback to improve performance Compliance – consistently adhere to Bank policies and regulations, reinforce training to ensure that Bank employees are aware of UDAAP and do not harm consumers with any act that could be misleading, unfair, deceptive, or abusive in act or practice Degree from a four-year university preferred 2+ years’ experience in residential real estate loan origination Meet and maintain ongoing MLO registration requirements with the NMLS Current working knowledge of the mortgage industry Understanding of credit, financial/tax analysis, and loan program guidelines Understanding of the secondary market including governmental programs Excellent ability to collect and report information on market conditions including competitive product and service offerings Thorough understanding of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements such as Regulation G and the federal SAFE Act and Regulation Z Working knowledge of office equipment and intermediate computer skills including excel Experience with portfolio lending and construction lending preferred Why You Should Apply Full-time position with excellent compensation and benefits package Generous time off programs Profit-sharing Discounted stock purchase program Excellent growth and development opportunities And much more!
