Bookkeeper

THE EMPLOYER

A Buffalo NY based not-for-profit, public benefit corporation is currently looking for a full-time Bookkeeper to join their team (37.5 hours per week). This mission-based organization has a long history of supporting businesses, creating job opportunities and promoting economic growth in Western New York. They are known for their team-oriented culture and high employee retention. This is a fully on-site role with flexible scheduling of daily hours.

THE JOB

Day-to-day responsibilities include the following:

• Record transactions in the general ledger, verifying accuracy and proper account coding
• Process cash disbursements and ensure timely distribution
• Review and research any general ledger discrepancies and assist with account reconciliation
• Create and maintain electronic records of all cash disbursements
• Organize receipts, invoices, and other documentation
• Prepare and deliver bank deposits
• Obtain and maintain W-9s for vendors, updating when needed
• Prepare month end pre-close trial balances and review for errors
• Coordinate reconciliation of bank accounts with the Accounting Manager
• Enter loan disbursements and payments in loan management software and generate monthly borrower statements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred, but not required
• 1-3 years’ experience in bookkeeping/accounting required
• Experience entering transactions into accounting software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or DownHome Solutions software experience is a plus
• Sound analytical skills to identify discrepancies or errors
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization
• Professional attitude and integrity

COMPENSATION

Currently, the good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position is $28-32 per hour. Where a successful applicant is slotted within this range will vary, based on legitimate criteria, such as experience and skill level.
