Billing SpecialistThe Billing Specialist at Atlantic Eye is responsible for managing the billing processes to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims, processing payments, and resolving billing issues. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills to handle sensitive patient information and interact with insurance companies.Responsibilities:Prepare and submit insurance claims for services rendered.Post payments from insurance companies and patients.Reconcile payments and resolve discrepancies.Analyze the aging report to identify accounts with overdue balances, focusing on claims that require immediate attention based on age and priority.Follow up on unpaid claims and investigate reasons for denials.Generate and send out patient statements.Handle patient billing inquiries and resolve any issues.Set up and manage payment plans for patients as necessary.Utilize correct coding practices for procedures (CPT, ICD-10).Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA.Maintain patient confidentiality and secure handling of patient records.Qualifications:Certification in medical billing and coding (CPC, CCS-P) preferred.Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in ophthalmology.Proficiency with billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.Strong knowledge of medical terminology, billing procedures, and coding standards.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.Education Requirement:High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field preferred.Work Schedule:Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5:00PM, Flexibility is key, with occasional availability required on weekends and evenings.About Us:At Atlantic Eye Physicians, we're not just a team; we're a family dedicated to excellence in eye care.
