Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Contract | 13-Week Assignment | Nights, 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct bedside nursing care on a stepdown/PCU unit serving a diverse patient population transitioning from ICU-level care
• Manage a patient assignment of up to 4 patients, collaborating with a Virtual RN and CNA within a Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model
• Care for cardiac patients including CHF, MI, ACS, cardiac arrhythmias, pacemaker patients, and post-procedural cardiac cases
• Monitor and manage respiratory patients including those on high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, tracheostomy (greater than 24 hours post-placement), and chronic home ventilators
• Support overflow care for neurological and renal patients, as well as complex medical-surgical patients requiring higher-level monitoring
• Float to lower-acuity units, renal care, neuro, and medical-surgical units as needed to meet staffing demands

Required Qualifications

• Active Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license required prior to start; pending license accepted at time of submission but must be in hand before offer is finalized
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Willingness to work weekend shifts as needed based on staffing requirements and to cover 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for cardiac patient populations including post-TAVR, MVR, Angiovac, and drug-load patients
• Experience managing respiratory patients on BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, or chronic home ventilators
• Familiarity with Co-Care or Virtual Nursing care delivery models
