Assistant Director, Recruitment - Phoenix/Northern AZ Posting Number: req26552 Department: Admissions & New Student Enrol Location: Greater Phoenix Area, Phoenix, AZ USA Job Overview The Assistant Director, Recruitment is responsible for the successful strategy, execution, assessment and oversight of recruitment efforts of a team focused on Maricopa County and Northern Arizona. This position frequently analyzes strategic priorities and outcomes in collaboration with their supervisor and advances the goals of the University of Arizona and the division of Enrollment Management. The Assistant Director, Recruitment serves as part of the management team for Arizona Recruitment and is the leadership representative to Phoenix area organizations, schools, colleges, and at community and recruitment events. This position is eligible for flexible scheduling under the University’s Flexible Work Initiative, which will be evaluated every six months or as needed. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Duties & Responsibilities Supervision and Reporting (35%): Oversee first‑line recruitment staff, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and support their development; monitor performance; ensure accurate reporting; manage team use of office properties; report progress and activities to supervisor. Strategic Planning and Analysis (30%): Formulate and implement Maricopa County and Northern Arizona recruitment strategies based on demographic analyses, market research, and admissions data; plan, implement, and evaluate recruitment strategies, programs and communications; review recruitment processes and lead efforts to improve effectiveness and efficiencies. Application Review (20%): Conduct comprehensive application review, evaluating students for admission using established guidelines; participate in committee review; serve as lead resource to recruitment staff on application review practices; monitor real‑time data and assess reading progress, accuracy, and alignment. Leadership & Relationship Building (15%): Represent the University to prospective students, parents, counselors, and community organizations; lead representation to Maricopa constituents; participate in on‑campus and Tucson events; develop relationships with community organizations and stakeholders; advocate for recruitment needs. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong supervisory and coaching skills with the ability to support developing professionals. Effective communication and relationship‑building skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities across territory work and team responsibilities. Working knowledge of admissions processes, recruitment strategies and higher education landscape. Ability to analyze data and apply insights to improve recruitment outcomes. Strong judgment and decision‑making skills. Ability to travel as requested. Ability to follow laws and guiding principles of recruitment work, including FERPA regulations. Physical and Environmental Requirements Must be able to lift boxes/materials up to 20 pounds. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in admissions, recruitment, or related field. Valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy. Reliable personal vehicle required. Fingerprint clearance required and to be completed once hired. Must live or relocate to Maricopa County, Arizona. Must have the ability to obtain a valid passport. Preferred Qualifications Experience supervising or leading professional staff. Experience managing a recruitment territory. Experience contributing to staff training and development initiatives. Compensation & Benefits Pay Range: $59,404 - $74,254 per year.
