Finance & Accounting Lead

Remote | West Coast Hours Preferred | Industry: Gaming & Entertainment Orange Comet is on the hunt for a Finance & Accounting Lead to take charge of our financial operations and help build a scalable infrastructure to support growth. What You’ll Do Accounting & Compliance Manage daily accounting operations: general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll approval, and cash management Own monthly close, account/bank reconciliations, and financial statement prep Ensure full GAAP compliance and maintain strong internal controls Oversee tax filings (federal, state) and interface with external advisors as appropriate Provide annual budget planning, performance monitoring, and scenario modeling Manager revenue recognition and licensing partner reporting Cap table management Ensure insurance policies are current and compliant Support Reg CF reporting and compliance Perform other duties and special projects as assigned Financial Strategy & Reporting Lead financial reporting: income statement, balance sheet, cash flow Forecast cash flow, support budgeting, and perform margin/cost analysis Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage budget performance Coordinate and lead annual audit Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership Partner with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and reporting Align financial goals with business priorities across departments Support FP&A during annual budget planning and scenario modeling Coach and manage junior staff and empower cross-functional teams Communicate forecasts, financial performance, and risk clearly and candidly Build strong relationships with auditors, investors, and key stakeholders What You Bring Proven experience leading accounting in a startup or high-growth environment Expertise in GAAP, internal controls, and financial operations Experience building accounting functions from scratch — strategy through execution Advanced Excel skills + Microsoft 365 & Google Workspace fluency Hands-on experience with: Bill.com (payables) Rippling (payroll) Carta (equity management) Strong business acumen, high EQ, and excellent communication skills Bonus: Passion for gaming, entertainment, or immersive technology Traits We Love Entrepreneurial mindset — you build, own, and improve Highly organized and accountable with great time management Emotionally intelligent and team-oriented Comfortable navigating ambiguity and prioritizing effectively Transparent, candid, and humble — no ego, just impact Location This is a remote role, but candidates must be able to work standard Pacific Time (PST) hours. Compensation Salary for this role is based on level of responsibility and relevant experience. The expected salary range is $90,000 – $165,000 USD.
