This position supports the program's goals by providing placement assistance and job readiness training/assistance to participants and all referred clientele. Pay: $28.84 an hour—approximately $60,000 annually. FLSA: Non‑exempt. Eligible for overtime. Schedule: 8 a.m.‑4 p.m. Tuesday‑Saturday (Sunday and Monday off). Location: Rego Park, Queens, NY Job‑related duties – essential functions Conduct outreach to referral source(s) provided by contractor. Maintain and provide documentation of placement activity (pay stub, employment verification, etc.). Complete progress notes for participants’ activities related to referrals, placements, and relocation efforts. Conduct individual assessment and needs analysis for placement readiness of participants. Act as a positive role model while providing support for those who are seeking employment. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all contractual requirements of the program. Coordinate with supervisor to identify challenges and provide advocacy. Develop and maintain weekly email network of job leads. Administer WOTC/WTT tax credits to potential employers. Contact and maintain positive relationships with employers to identify job opportunities and listings. Provide job readiness training/assessment and assist program participants in formulating job search plans for placement into permanent, full‑time employment. Market program participants to employers within the business community; establish and maintain a network of employer contacts ready to hire program participants into various positions. Provide follow‑up services to participants and employers to improve and maintain job retention. Document all participant and employer contacts in CARES. Identify qualified applicants and conduct screening interviews, administer tests, check references, and evaluate applicants’ qualifications. Qualifications What do I need to apply? Education and experience: High school diploma required with work experience as a placement specialist/job developer; bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of two years recruiting experience placing candidates in occupations or positions in high demand. Computer skills: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet and other software as required. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to network within and outside the community via phone, fax, email, and in person. Proficiency in English required; bilingual (Spanish) is a plus. Math skills: Must be excellent. Physical performance: Ability to attend off‑site meetings with community businesses. Reasoning ability: Good negotiation skills; ability to make judgment calls, prioritize, and multi‑task. Other skills: Ability to work independently, establish rapport with program participants and the business community, expertise at understanding client needs, and matching clients with business contacts.
