HR Specialist - Classification

Job Title: HR Specialist Classification

Duration: Full Time

Location: 100% Remote

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Federal HR Specialist Classification to perform position classification and job analysis activities supporting the Federal Highway Administration.

Responsibilities:

• Classify positions ranging from entry to senior level, including engineering, scientific, specialist, and administrative positions.
• Review, update, and write Position Descriptions (PDs).
• Conduct job analyses and evaluate position duties and responsibilities.
• Apply OPM General Schedule and Federal Wage System classification standards.
• Determine appropriate occupational series, title, grade, and pay plan.
• Conduct desk audits and job interviews.
• Prepare classification Evaluation Statements.
• Advise HR specialists, supervisors, and leadership on classification matters.
• Review vacancy announcements and specialized experience requirements.
• Support organizational restructuring and position-management activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal laws, regulations, and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of Federal HR experience, specifically in position classification.
• Experience classifying engineering positions and other professional/specialized roles.
• Strong knowledge of OPM classification standards and federal HR regulations.
• Experience with Position Descriptions, job analysis, and classification evaluations.

Preferred:

• Experience with Title 5 U.S.C., Federal Wage System, FPPS, WTTS, USA Staffing, or e-OPF.
• Federal HR certification is a plus.
