Works independently with moderate supervision from a Medical Scientist Supervisor or the Director of Laboratory Operations. May be assigned to work in a specialized section within the department.Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and ASCP (or equivalent) certification in one or more specialty areas of the laboratory. Or, Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and completion of an AMA approved laboratory training program and eligible for ASCP certification. Or, completion of an approved government training program and eligible for ASCP certificationVerbal communication skills required to interact with other hospital personnel.Writing skills and computer aptitude required to document test results and prepare reports of daily workMust be able to stand for long periodsAbility to work in a fast paced, high volume environmentMust be available to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidaysAll Scientists must meet the CLIA ’88 requirements for the complexity level of work performed Will participate in weekend rotation that occurs every other weekend.SummaryLocation: UH Lakewood Medical CenterType: Full time
