Economic Affairs & Innovation Specialist

The Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest is seeking a motivated and highly organized Economic Affairs & Innovation Specialist to join its team in San Francisco. The Specialist will help plan and implement the Consulate’s economic and innovation agenda across its six-state region: Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. This is a dynamic, high-impact position at the intersection of business, technology, innovation, government, and international relations. The Specialist will work closely with Israeli diplomats and serve as a key point of contact with economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, state and local officials, innovation and technology organizations, multinational companies, business leaders, and other economic stakeholders throughout the region. The position will focus on strengthening economic ties between Israel and the Pacific Northwest, developing strategic partnerships, supporting Israeli companies seeking opportunities in the region, engaging with leading U.S. companies and innovation ecosystems, and organizing business and innovation delegations, events, and professional programs. Key Responsibilities Promote Israeli industry, technology, and innovation throughout the Pacific Northwest. Build and maintain relationships with companies, economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, government agencies, innovation organizations, universities, investors, and industry leaders. Support Israeli companies seeking to enter, expand, or develop partnerships in the Pacific Northwest market. Identify business opportunities and potential strategic partnerships between Israeli and U.S. companies and organizations. Develop relationships with Fortune 500 companies, leading technology companies, startups, and regional innovation ecosystems. Plan and coordinate business, technology, and innovation delegations between Israel and the Pacific Northwest, including identifying participants, developing professional programs, and coordinating meetings and visits. Monitor economic, business, technology, and innovation trends across the region and provide relevant analysis and recommendations to the Consulate’s diplomatic team. Prepare briefings, reports, correspondence, and background materials for meetings, visits, delegations, and senior-level engagements. Cooperate with government agencies, business organizations, associations, and other partners in planning conferences, roundtables, networking events, and trade missions. Build and maintain a strong professional network that can support the Consulate’s economic and innovation objectives. Support the Consulate’s broader activities and perform administrative and office-related tasks as required. Be available for occasional evening and weekend events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business administration, economics, international relations, public policy, innovation, or a related field. 2–4 years of relevant professional experience in business development, economic development, technology, government relations, international affairs, trade, innovation, or a related field. Strong understanding of the Pacific Northwest and Northern California business and innovation environment. Familiarity with the Bay Area/Silicon Valley technology and innovation ecosystem is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with business, government, and organizational stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence, executive briefings, reports, and meeting summaries. Excellent organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and deliver measurable results. Experience organizing professional events, delegations, conferences, or business programs is an advantage. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diplomatic and professional team in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, professionalism, and attention to detail. Proficiency with social media and digital communication platforms.
