Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with financial reporting across a growing, multi-location organization. This role will work closely with the Controller and Finance team to ensure timely and accurate financial information while supporting process improvements, acquisitions, and special projects. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of GAAP, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities General Accounting & Month-End Close Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities. Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances. Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages. Assist with audit requests and preparation of supporting schedules. Maintain accurate documentation and accounting records in accordance with company policies and GAAP. Inventory & Operational Accounting Support inventory accounting, including reconciliations, reserve analyses, and transaction reviews. Assist with freight, warehouse, and operational expense analysis. Partner with operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting of business activities. Acquisitions & Integration Support Assist with accounting and reporting for newly acquired businesses. Support purchase accounting, opening balance sheet reviews, and integration activities. Help standardize accounting processes across acquired entities. Process Improvement & Systems Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls. Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned. Cross-Functional Support Work closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, and Operations teams. Respond to internal requests and provide accounting support across the organization. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA preferred. Experience 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience is a plus. Experience in distribution, manufacturing, industrial services, or multi-location environments preferred. Experience supporting audits and month-end close processes. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP systems and accounting software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
