Embark on a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher at the high school level, supporting the growth and success of students in a specialized behavior program. This full-time contract role begins as soon as possible and continues through June 2027, providing stability for the upcoming academic years. The position offers a structured schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm.
In this role, you’ll be working with a caseload of 11 students, primarily identified with Emotional Disturbance (ED), Other Health Impairments (OHI), and ADHD. Some students spend all core academic periods within the class, while others rotate out for certain periods. You’ll enjoy collaboration with paraprofessional support, ensuring each student receives comprehensive assistance in both specialized and general education settings.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification for high school level or eligibility to obtain one
- Previous experience or strong interest in working with high school students in a behavior program (ED, OHI, ADHD preferred)
- Ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt instruction for diverse learning needs
- Skilled in building positive relationships, managing classroom behavior, and implementing evidence-based interventions
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and related service providers
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs following regulatory guidelines
- Provide engaging instruction aligned with curriculum and student goals
- Foster a supportive environment promoting student achievement, self-regulation, and social-emotional skills
- Collect behavioral and academic data to inform instruction and interventions
- Coordinate with paraprofessionals and other professionals to maximize student inclusion and success
