Make a meaningful impact by supporting high school students in a behavioral program setting. This contract role begins as soon as possible and continues through June 2027, offering stability over multiple academic years. The workday runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, allowing you to help students thrive while maintaining a balanced schedule.
You’ll be at the heart of a dedicated classroom, working with a group of 11 students, each with unique strengths and needs related to emotional disturbance (ED), other health impairments (OHI), and ADHD. Some students attend all core academic periods within your classroom, while others split their time between specialized and general education classes. Paraprofessional support is provided both in your classroom and as students transition throughout their school day, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Previous experience supporting high school students with behavioral needs preferred
- Solid understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to manage and adapt to varying student schedules and needs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and general education staff for inclusive practices
- Create a supportive, structured classroom environment
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes
- Develop and modify lesson plans, ensuring alignment with IEP goals
