An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide instruction in a high school behavioral program serving students with Emotional Disturbance (ED) and Other Health Impairment (OHI), including ADHD. This full-time, contract position is available immediately and extends through June 2027, making it ideal for educators seeking a long-term assignment.
This supportive environment features a manageable caseload of 11 students, some of whom attend multiple core academic classes within the specialized setting, while others transition in and out for various subjects. Classroom paraprofessional support is on hand and also accompanies students to general education classes as needed.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience working with high school students, especially those with ED, OHI, or ADHD
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to develop individualized strategies for diverse learners
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively with paraprofessionals and general education teachers
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized instruction tailored to student needs within the behavioral classroom setting
- Develop and implement effective behavior management plans
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain rigorous documentation
- Collaborate frequently with support staff and classroom aides
- Communicate progress with school teams and families
This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, 7:00am to 2:30pm, providing the consistency and balance you need in your professional life.
