Step into a meaningful role empowering high school students through specialized instruction and dedicated guidance. This contract position focuses on supporting a high school behavior program, working with students who have Emotional Disturbance (ED), Other Health Impaired (OHI), and ADHD classifications. You’ll collaborate with a strong paraprofessional team and provide consistency for students requiring individualized approaches to learning and behavior.
This opportunity begins as soon as possible and extends through June 2027, offering a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm. You'll engage with a caseload of 11 students, many of whom split their days between your specialized classroom and mainstream courses—with paraprofessional support facilitating smooth transitions throughout the day.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification, or eligibility for certification
- Experience supporting high school-aged students with behavioral and/or academic needs
- Effective classroom management skills, especially in behavior-focused settings
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and support staff
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to IEP goals and academic standards
- Develop and implement behavioral interventions and support plans
- Track progress, complete documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and support staff to ensure student success
- Support students’ transitions to and from general education classrooms
