Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

This role supports a fast-paced food manufacturing operation by performing a variety of production, inspection, packaging, and cleaning tasks. You rotate through multiple stations, ensure product quality and safety, maintain a clean and compliant work area, and help keep production lines running smoothly across different shifts.

Responsibilities

• Wear and maintain gloves in a sanitary manner at all times, changing gloves as you rotate between stations.
• Supply cups for all cup setter magazines and ensure the cupsetter area remains clean and organized at all times.
• Clear cup paper that becomes stuck on a cupsetter head when necessary and scrape trays as required.
• Verify that the cup paper size is correct for the product being run and that each tray cavity receives one cup paper.
• Notify the employee filling magazines and the extruder operator if any tray cavities are missing cup papers.
• Reposition incorrectly deposited cup papers, remove extra or stuck-together cups, and replace stretched, cut, or pinched cup papers with acceptable ones.
• Clean the Tonnaer screw and housing when the line is down for one shift or longer.
• Remove defective product from the inspection belt and place it into the designated rework or stockfeed pan.
• Monitor the picker, inspection belt, and main product belt for product jams and respond promptly to prevent downtime.
• Reject large quantities of unacceptable product when necessary to maintain product quality standards.
• Clean metal detection probes and sweep the platform to support effective metal detection.
• Start and stop the main line when necessary and perform metal detection checks at the end of a production run.
• Clean work areas thoroughly while the line is down to maintain a sanitary and organized environment.
• Fill cases with the required number of bags positioned properly and monitor the integrity of bag seals.
• Perform metal checks and inspect wrapped product to ensure finished goods meet quality requirements.
• Reset the main line after a wrapping stop to resume production efficiently.
• Rotate through assigned stations in a timely fashion to support continuous production.
• Fill and seal cases accurately, perform finished product quality tracking, and record case counts.
• Work as a packer, picker, cleaner, and hand packer as needed, adapting to different tasks across the production floor.
• Participate in first-week training on first shift and then rotate between second and third shifts as scheduled.

Essential Skills

• Experience in general production, general labor, or similar roles in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Knowledge in food production or food manufacturing, or the ability to quickly learn food manufacturing processes.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as packing, picking, cleaning, and hand packing with attention to detail.
• Capability to identify defective products and remove them from the line according to quality standards.
• Comfort using and working around production equipment such as cup setters, inspection belts, main product belts, and metal detection systems.
• Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and adhere to strict hygiene and safety procedures.
• Willingness and ability to work both second and third shifts and rotate between them as required.
• Ability to complete first-week training on first shift and transition to rotating shifts thereafter.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and handle cases and trays safely.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and organization in a food manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a packer, picker, cleaner, or hand packer in a production or food manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with metal detection checks and quality inspection of wrapped and finished products.
• Comfort with tracking finished product quality and recording case counts accurately.
• Ability to rotate efficiently through multiple stations and adapt to changing production needs.
• Experience working under GMP requirements and in clean, climate-controlled facilities.
• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including hair nets, beard nets, jackets, hard hats, gloves, and safety footwear.
• Reliability in following dress code requirements, including wearing pants without rips, avoiding jewelry, and complying with restrictions on hoodies and rolled sleeves.

Work Environment

This position is based in a clean, climate-controlled food manufacturing facility that operates under strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). You work around production lines, cup setters, inspection belts, main product belts, and metal detection equipment. All contractors must be able to work both second and third shifts and rotate between them, with the first week of training on first shift. Typical shift times include a second shift from approximately 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM and a third shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, supporting general production operations. The dress code requires steel-toe or composite-toe shoes and long pants, such as jeans without rips. The facility provides hair nets, beard nets, jackets, hard hats, and gloves, which you must wear as directed. Jewelry is not allowed, hoodies are prohibited, and long sleeves are permitted but cannot be rolled up. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and adherence to all GMP and hygiene standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hershey, PA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
