Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

License/Certs: BLS, ACLS, PALS required; NRP preferred

Experience: Minimum 2 years PICU experience; cross-trained in adult ICU and Med/Tele preferred

What You'll Do

• Provide exceptional nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Titrate medications including vasopressors, insulin, sedation, and pain management drips
• Manage ventilated patients and perform wound care
• Draw blood and manage central lines as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists
• Follow hospital protocols and maintain compliance with unit standards
• Adapt to floating between PICU, adult ICU, and Med/Tele units based on experience and approval
• Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR

What You Need

• Valid RN license in Louisiana (or multi-state license)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications (NRP preferred)
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience
• PIV, CVL, telemetry, wound care, drains, wound vacs skills
• Ability to pass EKG competency exam prior to arrival
• Experience titrating pressors, insulin, heparin, sedation, and pain drips

• Cross-trained with adult ICU and Med/Tele experience
• Flexibility to float and adapt to different units
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills

About the Assignment This assignment offers a busy, family-oriented PICU setting within a 6-bay unit that cares for pediatric patients with diverse diagnoses including MS, DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, and post-surgical neuro cases. Patients are managed with a high level of teamwork and support, with resources such as RT, hospitalist, and intensivist availability. The unit operates on a 3-4 nurse staffing model per shift, with a focus on delivering quality care in a traveler-friendly environment. You will receive comprehensive orientation and support throughout your assignment.
