Director of Business Development - Architectural Millwork & Casework

Micro-Cap Solutions is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a leading commercial architectural millwork and casework contractor seeking an experienced Director of Business Development – Preconstruction . This is a senior, relationship‑driven role focused on growing an established and highly reputable business throughout the Pacific Northwest. The position will own key customer relationships, develop new strategic accounts, identify projects early in the preconstruction process, and help drive opportunities from initial pursuit through contract award. Key Responsibilities Build and expand relationships with general contractors and other key commercial construction partners. Grow existing strategic accounts through increased wallet share, early project visibility, negotiated work, and “last look” opportunities. Develop new GC relationships and identify opportunities during conceptual design and preconstruction. Lead pursuits from initial identification and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and award. Partner closely with Estimating, Engineering, Project Management, Operations, and leadership throughout the pursuit process. Maintain a disciplined pipeline and provide visibility into future opportunities and backlog. Support broader geographic expansion throughout the Pacific Northwest. Focus on profitable, sustainable growth, not simply sales volume. Ideal Background 7+ years of business development, preconstruction, estimating, project management, or related commercial construction experience. Strong relationships with general contractors, ideally throughout the Seattle / Puget Sound market. Architectural millwork or casework experience preferred but not required; backgrounds with a GC or related specialty subcontractor are highly relevant. Strong understanding of preconstruction, estimating, construction documents, bid processes, and project delivery. Proven ability to develop customer relationships and secure profitable commercial construction opportunities. Entrepreneurial, relationship‑driven, accountable, and comfortable operating with a high degree of ownership. Compensation & Travel Base salary in the $140k-$170k range with uncapped performance incentive , additional EBITDA incentive, vehicle allowance, and comprehensive benefits. Target total compensation is approximately $270K+ . Frequent regional travel throughout the Pacific Northwest is expected to visit key customers, develop new relationships, and support business development efforts.
