Human Resources Manager

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a well-established provider of workplace and business solutions to identify an experienced HR Manager to join their growing team.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for leading day-to-day human resources operations while serving as a trusted resource for employees and managers. The HR Manager will oversee employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, performance management, and HR process improvements. This position is ideal for a proactive, people-focused HR professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys balancing both strategic and operational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Compliance
• Manage and continuously improve HR processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle administration
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS data
• Partner with payroll administration on employee and payroll-related matters
• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and employee handbook updates
• Serve as the primary benefits liaison, helping employees navigate benefits-related questions and challenges while partnering with external brokers and providers

Employee Relations
• Serve as a trusted first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and workplace issues
• Conduct employee relations investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions
• Foster a positive and engaging workplace culture through proactive employee engagement initiatives
• Provide guidance on benefits, leave administration, and company policies
• Manage employee leave cases and related communications

Talent Acquisition
• Lead full-cycle recruiting for non-managerial and sales positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer management
• Manage relationships with external recruiting partners and agencies as needed
• Partner with leadership on workforce planning and hiring strategies
• Oversee background checks and onboarding workflows to ensure a seamless candidate experience

Performance Management & Employee Development
• Administer the performance review process, including timeline management and manager support
• Coordinate training programs, professional development opportunities, and learning initiatives
• Support talent development and succession planning efforts
• Manage and track new hire 30/60/90-day onboarding and integration checkpoints

Process Improvement & HR Technology
• Identify opportunities to streamline HR workflows and improve operational efficiency
• Support HR automation initiatives, including onboarding, forms management, and reporting
• Maintain HR data integrity across systems and platforms
• Assist with SharePoint and HR technology updates to improve employee access and communication

Qualifications

Required
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• 3-5 years of progressive HR experience in an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Experience working with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications

Preferred
• PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification
• Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field
• Experience with Paylocity or other Human Capital Management (HCM) systems, including module implementation and optimization
