Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire
Shift: Second Shift (Monday – Friday, 2:45 PM – 11:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $23.00 – $27.00/hr
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented SMT QC Inspector to join our electronics manufacturing team in San Jose, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and surface-mount technology (SMT) components at various stages of production to ensure strict adherence to quality, reliability, and workmanship standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final visual inspections of SMT assemblies and bare/populated PCBs using microscopes, eyepieces, and magnifying equipment.
- Inspect solder joints, component placement, alignment, polarity, and orientation against engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and standard operating procedures.
- Detect common SMT defects such as bridging, tombstoning, misalignment, insufficient solder, solder voids, and missing components.
- Accurately document defect data, flag non-conforming assemblies, and route rejected boards to rework/touch-up technicians with clear defect tags.
- Ensure all inspection processes align with internal quality management standards and customer specifications.
- Strictly follow Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized inspection station.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum 1–3 years of quality control or inspection experience in PCB/PCBA electronics manufacturing.
- Familiarity with or certification in IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in using inspection microscopes, ring lights, and optical inspection aids.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing process instructions.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail, strong color perception, steady hand-eye coordination, and effective verbal/written communication skills.
