Overview Fill Clinical Psychologist VIII positions that provide services to students at various schools within the Hawaii District as needed and assigned by the Hawaii District Administration Office. Salary Clinical Psychologist VIII, SR‑30: $7,952.00 – $9,675.00 per month. New external applicants start at the initial step of the salary range; placement above the initial step depends on special characteristics, critical needs, exceptional qualifications, available funds, and other factors. Hawaii State Department of Education employees are placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations. Responsibilities Performs professional work concerning the development and application of theories, principles, methods, and techniques related to the development, behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and activities of individuals to measure, predict, prevent, modify or induce behavior. Conducts psycho‑diagnosis, psychotherapy, consultation, administration, prevention, training, and research. Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates a program of clinical psychology consisting of a group of distinct, interrelated subprograms. Performs other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree from an accredited college in clinical psychology which included an internship in clinical psychology; or one year of professional work experience in the field of clinical psychology can substitute the internship. Successful completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree from an accredited college in a specialty related to clinical psychology. The doctoral program must have included an internship in clinical psychology or be supplemented by a post‑doctoral clinical internship; or one year of post‑doctoral clinical psychology experience under competent professional supervision can substitute the requirement. Holds a doctoral degree from a training program approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) or from a regionally accredited institution of higher education that meets the experiential requirements for inclusion in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Holds a diplomate certificate in good standing granted by the American Board of Examiners in Professional Psychology. Possesses a valid license to practice psychology in the State of Hawaii. Minimum one additional year of professional clinical psychology experience involving psycho‑diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services to individuals with severe problems of personality, social, emotional adjustment, or mental retardation, comparable to Level V in the State service. Minimum one additional year of professional experience comparable to Level VI in the State service; one year of research or college‑level teaching experience in the field of clinical psychology may be used toward meeting this requirement. For Level VIII, an additional year of experience comparable to Level VII or two years comparable to Level VI; two years of research or college‑level teaching experience may be used to meet this requirement. License Requirements Within two years of appointment as a Clinical Psychologist V or higher, the applicant must meet the licensing requirements and obtain a license issued by the Hawaii State Board of Psychology, as required by Chapter 465, HRS. Failure to obtain the license within two years will result in termination from State service. Driver’s License Requirement Some positions require a current, valid Driver’s License.
