Job Summary

A real estate and property management organization in the West Los Angeles area is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and team management for a diverse portfolio of residential properties and development projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong property accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and experience using Yardi. 

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and lead an accounting team of 6, providing guidance, training, workflow oversight, and performance support.
- Oversee accounting operations and financial reporting for residential properties and development projects.
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure accurate property accounting, general ledger activity, cash management, and reporting 

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $140,000 to $200,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Location: West Los Angeles, CA.

Additional Skills

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Oversee accounting and financial reporting for a real estate portfolio, including residential properties and development projects.
- Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals.
- Review financial statements, reconciliations, general ledger activity, and accounting close processes.
- Support process improvements, reporting accuracy, and internal accounting controls.

- 6 to 10 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within real estate, property management, or development.
- Strong property accounting experience is required.
- Hands-on experience with Yardi.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with complex financial data.
- Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.

Preferred Qualifications

- CPA designation preferred.
- Experience supporting both residential property accounting and development project accounting.
- Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience within a real estate or property management environment.
