About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience - BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Description: Licensed for 457 beds. Level 3 trauma center and stroke center of excellence. Bariatric center of excellence and chest pain center. Census averages 51 patients per day. Accepts first-time travelers. Patient types and common diagnoses include chronic diseases, CHF, mental health, addiction services requiring IV antibiotics, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care. General Med/Tele skillset required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem or Amiodarone. Experience with care of patients with tubes and drains, IV start skills, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes is essential. Support within the department includes nurse manager, clinical supervisors, staff RNs, CNAs, clinical mentors, rapid response RNs, and house supervisors. Technology and equipment utilized include EMR, scales, GBS machines, transfer devices, vein finders, EKGs, crash carts, language interpreters, telemedicine carts for online assessments, and Dopplers. Floating will be required within the region and scope of practice, including potential floating to various facilities as needed. Scheduling includes weekend rotation every other week. Travelers will be expected to work a significant percentage of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to six days, excluding holidays. Shift times are 0700-1900 and 1900-0700, with 6-week scheduling cycles. Department culture emphasizes teamwork and accountability.
