12-Month Cook Manager Early Childhood Learning Center/Soaring Eagles Daycare 7 Hours/Day Independently manage the Early Childhood Learning Center and Soaring Eagles Daycare kitchen. Coordinate and ensure the planning, preparation, and service of nutritious meals and snacks that meet federal and state nutrition guidelines. Provide oversight for the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, including food safety, inventory management, ordering, recordkeeping, and sanitation. Demonstrate the leadership, organization, and communication skills necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the food service program at the site. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. Position Available July 2026 Position Summary Independently manage the Early Childhood Learning Center and Soaring Eagles Daycare kitchen. Provide oversight for the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, including food safety, inventory management, ordering, recordkeeping, and sanitation. Demonstrate the leadership, organization, and communication skills necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the food service program at the site. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. Essential Functions Plan, prepare, and serve meals and snacks that meet USDA School Nutrition Program and CACFP meal pattern requirements. Maintain compliance with all applicable USDA, MDE, MDH, and HACCP food safety regulations. Order food, milk, supplies, and small equipment while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and minimizing waste. Receive, inspect, and properly store food and supplies following food safety standards. Prepare meals using standardized recipes and appropriate portion sizes. Maintain accurate food production records, meal counts, temperature logs, sanitizer logs, inventory records, and other required documentation. Monitor food quality, proper time and temperature controls, and sanitation practices throughout food preparation and service. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, utensils, and storage areas according to established procedures. Monitor inventory and rotate stock using First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures. Report equipment maintenance needs and facility concerns to the Food Service Director. Communicate effectively with the Food Service Director, daycare staff, vendors, and district personnel. Assist with special meals, catering, or other Food Service Department activities as assigned. Job Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Three to five years of experience in a school food service program preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a job-related field. Minnesota Dept. of Health Certified Food Protection Manager Certification or ability to obtain. Salary Range Union contract hourly range based on education, experience, and qualifications: $18.51 - $22.31 The following salary range is based on the 2025-2026 school year union contract; these amounts will be subject to change/increase once the new contract is settled.
