Estimator-in-Training

CVE is a leading national electrical contractor with a strong presence in Hawaii. We are seeking a motivated Estimator-in-Training to join our Honolulu team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to build a long-term career in electrical estimating within a supportive, growth-oriented environment. What You’ll Do As an estimator in training, you will work closely with experienced estimators and project teams to learn the full process of electrical estimating for large commercial and industrial projects. The goal is for you to develop the skills and confidence to independently estimate and manage bids within 1-2 years. This is a hands‑on training role designed for long-term candidates who are excited to grow with the company. In this position, you will have the following primary responsibilities: Review bid documents, drawings, specifications and project scopes to define project scope and prepare estimates Assist in quantifying electrical commodities and researching pricing. Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams (project management, engineering, and procurement) to obtain quotes and project details Learn to use estimating software and tools while supporting the development and submission of competitive bids Participate in jobsite visits and inspections as needed Help compile bid packages and contribute to value engineering and cost‑saving ideas Gradually take on increasing responsibility as skills develop toward independent estimating What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Construction Management, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail Interest in electrical systems, construction, and the estimating process (prior experience is a plus but not required) Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc); familiarity with estimating or CAD software is helpful but not mandatory Excellent communication and collaboration skills Self‑motivated learner who is reliable, organized, and committed to long‑term growth with CVE Must pass drug/alcohol screening and background check What We Offer Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package Structured training and mentorship from experienced estimators Clear path for advancement into a full estimator role within 1-2 years Opportunity to work on diverse, high‑profile electrical construction projects in Hawaii Supportive team culture with a focus on excellence and professional development Stable, long‑term career with one of the nation’s top electrical contractors #J-18808-Ljbffr
